Opensense email signature pricing and what the $500 a month minimum really costs
Opensense publishes a $1 per user price, which reads as one of the cheapest options on the market until you notice the platform minimum sitting underneath it. Here is the arithmetic at five company sizes, what the higher tiers actually buy, and where Exclaimer, CodeTwo and a flat price land against it.
| Group | Mailboxes | Status |

The short answer
Opensense charges $1 per user a month for its Signature plan, $3 for Pipeline and $5 for Complete, and every one of those plans carries a $500 a month platform minimum. The minimum is the number that matters. A 50 person company does not pay $50, it pays $500, which is $10 per user. On the Signature tier the advertised $1 rate is only the real rate once you have 500 users. Below roughly 200 people, Opensense is one of the most expensive ways to put a correct signature on every mailbox, and it is priced that way on purpose: the product is aimed at marketing teams running targeted banner campaigns, not at an IT admin who wants consistent contact details.
How much does Opensense cost
These are the figures published on the Opensense pricing page, checked in September 2026. Plans are described as mixable, so a company can put different groups on different tiers, and enterprise pricing is quoted.
| Plan | Listed price | Minimum | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Signature | $1 per user a month | $500 a month | Centralized management across devices and clients, custom signature fields, department signatures |
| Pipeline | $3 per user a month | $500 a month | Everything in Signature plus scheduled banner campaigns, A/B testing, account based targeting, HR system integrations |
| Complete | $5 per user a month | $500 a month | Everything in Pipeline plus stage based and recipient based targeting, Salesforce and Zoho, HubSpot and Marketo |
| Email tracking, Bronze to Gold | $20, $55 and $65 per user a month | $500 a month | A separate product line for event, document, website and video tracking with CRM syncing |
The tracking plans are worth flagging because they sit on the same pricing page and are easy to mistake for signature pricing. They are a sales engagement product. If someone quotes you "Opensense, $65 a seat" they are talking about Gold tracking, not signatures.
Does Opensense have a minimum spend
Yes, $500 a month on every plan. That single line rewrites the whole price list for anyone under a few hundred employees. Here is what the Signature plan actually costs per person once the floor is applied.
| Users | $1 per user comes to | You pay | Effective rate per user |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | $25 | $500 | $20.00 |
| 50 | $50 | $500 | $10.00 |
| 100 | $100 | $500 | $5.00 |
| 250 | $250 | $500 | $2.00 |
| 500 | $500 | $500 | $1.00 |
The break point is easy to work out for any tier: divide $500 by the per user price. Signature stops being minimum bound at 500 users, Pipeline at about 167, and Complete at 100. Above those headcounts you are paying the sticker price. Below them you are buying a $500 platform fee with the seats thrown in. That is not a criticism of the product, it is a deliberate qualification filter, and it tells you plainly who Opensense wants as a customer.
It is also a committed monthly line rather than a usage based one, which is the sort of subscription that quietly outlives the project that justified it. Whatever you use to categorize recurring software spend, a platform minimum deserves a renewal reminder attached to it.
Is Opensense cheaper than Exclaimer or CodeTwo
Not until you are large. Below is the monthly bill for signature management at four sizes, using each vendor's published annual billing rate and the cheapest tier that still does centrally managed signatures. Exclaimer and CodeTwo figures were re-checked on their own pricing pages in September 2026.
| Mailboxes | Opensense Signature | Exclaimer Standard | CodeTwo Email Signatures 365 | AutoSignature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | $500 | about $36 | about $31 | $99, or $79 billed yearly |
| 100 | $500 | about $145 | about $111 | $299, or $239 billed yearly |
| 250 | $500 | about $363 | about $228 | $799, or $639 billed yearly |
| 500 | $500 | about $725 | about $380 (quoted above 450) | $799, or $639 billed yearly |
Read that honestly and three things fall out. CodeTwo is the cheapest line on the table at almost every size, and it is Microsoft only, with no Google Workspace product at all. Exclaimer is the cheapest tool that covers both platforms, right up until the per user total passes the Opensense floor somewhere around 350 users. And we are the most expensive option at 250 and 500 mailboxes, which we are not going to hide: a flat band is worth paying for when you are recruiting hard or running two mail platforms, and it is not worth paying for when your headcount is flat and you only need Microsoft.
The two vendor comparisons in detail are on the Exclaimer vs CodeTwo pricing breakdown, and for the per member model there is Exclaimer vs WiseStamp pricing.
What the higher Opensense tiers buy
If you judge Opensense purely on signature management you will conclude it is overpriced, and you will be judging the wrong thing. The money is in the targeting.
Account based banner targeting
Pipeline lets you show one banner to people at target accounts and a different one to everyone else. For a demand generation team with a named account list, that is a real channel, because employee email reaches those accounts every day for free.
CRM stage based targeting
Complete ties the banner to where the recipient sits in Salesforce or HubSpot, so a prospect in evaluation sees a case study and a current customer sees a support or expansion message. Very few signature tools do this.
A/B testing on banners
Split testing creative inside the signature, with reporting, which is what separates a marketing platform from a template manager. If nobody at your company owns those numbers, you will not use it.
HR system sync
Pulling titles and departments from an HRIS rather than only the mail directory helps if your directory is out of date, which in a company of several hundred people it usually is.
Both mail platforms
Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and Google Workspace are all supported, the Google side through directory sync and the Gmail API. That puts Opensense ahead of Microsoft only vendors for mixed estates.
No mail relay
Credit where it is due: Opensense applies signatures with an Exchange Online transport rule inside your own tenant, or with an Outlook add-in, and says mail stays inside Microsoft 365 end to end. If your security review objects to third party mail routing, that objection does not apply here.
Who should buy Opensense, and who should not
Buy it if
You have 300 or more employees, a marketing team that owns pipeline targets, a CRM that is actually maintained, and someone whose job includes reporting on banner performance. At that size the minimum is no longer the binding constraint and you are buying a channel rather than a utility.
It also fits if you already run account based marketing and want employee email in that program alongside ads and outbound.
Look elsewhere if
You have under 200 people, or your problem is that everyone's signature is different and half the phone numbers are wrong. That is a management problem, not a marketing one, and $500 a month is a lot to pay for it. Exclaimer and CodeTwo solve it per user for well under $200 at that size, and we solve it at a flat $99 or $299 with both mail platforms included on every plan.
The same applies if nobody at your company will ever build a targeted banner campaign. Paying for Pipeline or Complete and using them like Signature is the most common way companies overspend here.
If the real requirement is consistent, centrally managed signatures across a company, that is what email signature management software is for, and the marketing side is covered separately by scheduled email signature banners with start and end dates.
Opensense pricing questions
How much does Opensense cost?
Opensense lists three email signature plans: Signature at $1 per user a month, Pipeline at $3 and Complete at $5. Every plan carries a $500 a month platform minimum, so $500 is the floor no matter how few users you have. Separate email tracking plans are listed at $20, $55 and $65 per user a month.
Does Opensense have a minimum spend?
Yes. Opensense's pricing page shows a $500 a month minimum attached to every plan, including the $1 Signature tier. That means a 50 person company pays $500 a month rather than $50, an effective rate of $10 per user. On the Signature plan the per user price only becomes the real price at 500 users.
Is Opensense cheaper than Exclaimer?
Not at small and mid sizes. At 100 users Exclaimer Standard is around $145 a month on annual billing while Opensense is held at its $500 floor. The picture flips at large headcounts: at 500 users Exclaimer Standard is roughly $725 while Opensense Signature is $500, because the per user rate has finally caught up with the minimum.
What is the difference between Opensense Signature, Pipeline and Complete?
Signature covers centralized signature management, custom fields and department signatures. Pipeline adds scheduled banner campaigns, A/B testing, account based targeting and HR system integrations. Complete adds stage based and recipient based targeting plus CRM and marketing automation integrations with Salesforce, Zoho, HubSpot and Marketo.
Does Opensense route my email through its servers?
No. Opensense applies signatures either through an Exchange Online transport rule inside your own Microsoft 365 tenant or through an Outlook add-in, and states that mail stays inside Microsoft 365 end to end. For Google Workspace it syncs the directory and works through the Gmail API rather than relaying mail.
Who is Opensense actually built for?
Marketing and revenue teams at larger companies that want to run targeted banner campaigns in employee email, tied to CRM stage and account lists. If you only need one correct signature on every mailbox, the Signature tier plus the $500 minimum is an expensive way to buy that, and several cheaper tools do it well.
Does Opensense offer a free trial?
Opensense's pricing page mentions a free trial for qualified accounts, which is sales led rather than self serve. Expect a qualification call before access. Exclaimer and CodeTwo both run open 14 day trials, and you can try the signature console on this page without an account at all.
One signature for the company, at a price that does not start at $500
Team is $99 a month for up to 25 mailboxes, Business is $299 for up to 150 and Scale is $799 for up to 600. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 on every plan, no per seat line and no platform minimum.
